How to set gains on any mixer
Gain Staging (Always Set Gains at START of rehearsals), and remember to be careful about changing gains after everything gets going, because it does affect everything throughout the mixer, including the in-ear monitors, any recording happening to the hard drive, etc. Again, it's best to get it all done at the start, at least get them set as very close as we can get it so that only minor adjustments are made through the rest of the practice or actual service.
